Here’s a number worth putting in your cell phone, or your home phone speed dial: 1-800-goog411 or 1-800-466-4411. This is an awesome service from Google, and it’s free — great when you are on the road. Don’t waste your money on information calls and don’t waste your time manually dialing the number. I am driving along in my car and I need to call the golf course and I don’t know the number. I hit the speed dial for information that I have programmed (1-800-466-4411). The voice at the other end says, “Say the name of the business and the City & Province.” I say, “Kingsville Golf Course, Kingsville, Ontario”. He says, “Connecting” and Kingsville Golf Course answers the phone. How great is that? This is nationwide, Canada & US, and it is absolutely free! Works on cell and landline phones, all you have to remember is 1-800-466-4411. Give it a try. Click on the link below and watch the short clip for a quick demonstration. http://www.google.com/goog411/ Share on Facebook

It’s not a pretty site and not the way that I thought it would end. I have always enjoyed each season of American Idol. That is until now. This year Paula Abdul is missing. In her place Ellen DeGeneres, a talented lady, but not enough to fill Paula’s shoes. Simon Cowell is leaving so that leaves Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi to carry on. To even consider “Shock Jock” Howard Stern as a replacement for Simon is enough in it’s self to order a casket for the show. Judges aside, this year’s crop of talent seems sadly lacking. There is no one or two notable figures emerging from the thousands of auditions. There is nobody singing good enough to entice me to pay for a CD or a download. Let’s face it, American Idol is on life support. Come Spring though, we will have another opportunity to see what Canada has to offer. Some years have been good and some not so good. At least we have some consistency left to keep the faithful coming back. Do I sound a little disgruntled? I’m not really. Every hit show has it’s starting point, it’s peak and in the end …. well [...]

The Olympics have come to a close. The torch has been passed to Russia and Canadians everywhere can breath a sigh of relief and satisfaction. The games did not go off problem free, the opening ceremonies had the technical problem and of course the death of the Luger in trial runs. Those will always be remembered, but the games were a stunning success. Canada won Gold. Lots and Lots of Gold, leading the field in Gold and placing third in overall medals. The biggest thrill of all for Canada of course Gold in both Women’s and Men’s Hockey. What more could any Canadian ask for? Well done Vancouver! Well done Olympians!
